Crazy Weekend
Sorry that I didn’t post anything yesterday. By the time I got home from sectionals and soccer I was wiped out. Good news through…WE WON THE CJ GROUP 1 SECTIONAL TITLE!! It was our second year in a row winning it. To cap it off, our guys team won their first sectional title ever. We swept the CJ Group 1 Sectionals. The wins were great for our program. I placed 4th in the 3200. I...

SECTIONALSSSSS!
1. Sectionals are finally here!
2. I have a 5 day weekend!
3. I have to double :|
So sectionals have finally arrived. It’s pretty nice out but will probably get hotter. My coach thinks it’ll be in the 90s. I hope he’s wrong. I hate running in the heat. But anyway yesterday I found out that I have to double and run the 1600 and 3200 because one of our girls is still recovering...

post race
Today’s run wasn’t too bad. The only bad thing was that it was extremely humid out. We ran five miles to the baseball fields and on the way stopped at Meagan’s house. We ended up taking her dog to run with us for a mile. The dog’s name is Abby and is the most adorable thing ever. She is so friendly and energetic. Abby was running ahead of us on the leash and would stop...

Great race today. It was raining on and off all day and was drizzling at the start of the meet. I ran the 3200m today. My coach wanted me to see how it felt since I’m running it in sectionals with very little experience. In fact, today was my first time I had ever raced a 3200m. Just before the start of my race it started raining hard. It felt good since it was incredibly humid and musky....

rainy day
We were all locking forward to a mud run today but our coach said no :( booo. Instead we had the pleasure of doing rhythm miles in the pouring rain. For the first two miles, it was raining hard. After the second mile, the rain began to let up. We finished up the miles and then went inside to stretch and do core. Our coach had us do a new core routine. It was harder than normally but just as...

ummm what??
So apparently the meet Thursday was canceled. Instead we are now going to a different meet that is on Friday…a half day. That would happen. I’m running one of the last and longest races (3200m) and the meet got moved to the day when we’re supposed to only have a half day. Oh well. Not much you can do about it. At the end of practice today we had a meeting for all the people...

Surprise!
Surprise workout today. My coach had “forgotten” to mention to us that we would be having a workout today. Luckily I had my spikes with me so I was fine. The workout was easy. It was mostly speed. It was:
1600m @ 6:30
6x200m @ race pace
The mile wasn’t bad. I actually thought it was kinda slow. The 200m were decent. My coach didn’t time the 200m but he wanted them fast....

Sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday. It was a crazy day and I was exhausted after my meet. County’s went well. I didn’t run my best but I still ran well. My coach was pleased with my time but I know I can run faster. The team did pretty well. A handful of people took home medals. Next up is the Frosh/Soph Invitational on Thursday and then Sectionals. Can’t wait until...

Going to bed. I need a good night’s rest. Big meet tomorrow. We’re going up against the best runners in the county. It should be a good meet. I’ll post results tomorrow. Good Night! :)

good day
It was BEAUTIFUL out today. Perfect weather for a run. A little hot but it was okay since we ran in sports bras. It was a relatively short run. I only ran five miles. My coach is starting to cut me back since county’s and sectionals are around the corner. After we got back we had to do six fast striders. Normally people just go through the motions so I was glad when my coach told us to do...

County's this weekend
Can’t wait for this weekend. We’re running at county’s. It is a relatively big meet in the grand scheme of things because we will be able to see who we’ll be running against during sectionals. We are beginning to cut back on milage. It isn’t too low yet but we are slowly reducing it. Today we only went on a five mile run. When we got back we did core on our own in...

silly freshmen
So as of right now I might not be going to sectionals for the 800m. That pisses me off so much. I wouldn’t care as much if the people in the top 3 were hard workers and earned it but they’re freshmen (jk who am I kidding I’d still care a lot). No offense to any other freshmen but I personally don’t think they deserve it. Only one of them does. The thing is, they...

Happy Mother's Day :)
I just want to say that I love my mom and I hope you all had a great Mother’s Day with your moms. I don’t know where I’d be without my mom. She is one of the only constants in my life. She is my best friend. I love you so much mom. Happy Mother’s Day

longest day EVERRRR
I had SATs this morning. They weren’t as bad as I thought they’d be but then again I could be wrong. We’ll see how I do once I get my scores back. Right after SATs were done I had to rush over to my high school so that I could help set up for the 2nd annual Twilight Meet. We had to be there at 1 and I ended up arriving at the school around 1:20. Not too bad seeing how I came from...

easy pre-meet run
Today we went on a five mile run. It was a pre-meet day so we took it easy. We went on an adventure through fields until we reached a newer neighborhood with huge houses. From the neighborhood we ran to the baseball fields. The weird thing was that there weren’t any sidewalks in the neighborhood. Don’t they normally pave the sidewalks first? We ran in the woods for a while and then...

Twilight Meet, SATs
Tomorrow is the 2nd annual Twilight Meet that my school helps to host. It is a HUGE meet and three states are going to be represented along with many other athletes who might only represent their school’s girls or boys teams. But before I can even step on the track, and run against some of the fastest girls in the state and area, I have to take the SATs in the morning. People have been...

peaceful run
I ran by myself today for most of my 6 mile run. My friend who I typically run with was in a mood and seemed annoyed with me so I decided not to run with her once we reached the trails. Instead I ran by myself and was able to have a nice quiet run. Even though we’re not supposed to, I think I’m going to run by myself more often. I was able to clear my head and just think and focus on...

Slushies
Day 3 of the slushie saga. Some of the guys on the track team and even some of the girls were given OSS. All over slushies. Don’t get me wrong; what they did was wrong but it’s nothing compared to the other offenses that get you OSS. This really affects our meet this weekend. They can’t run or even help out with the meet. The boys 4x800m had to get scratched along with a handful...

what a day
So my race did not go as well as I had hoped for. I ran my season’s worst. Running the 800m has not been going too well. It was only the second time I’ve ran it since indoor. Even in indoor I was still running in the low 2:30s and in the high 2:20s. These two races outside have totally thrown me off. I am doubting myself now and am starting to worry about my spot on the sectionals...
The 25 Commandments of Running by Joe Kelly →
michelleruns:
1. Don’t be a whiner. Nobody likes a whiner, not even other whiners. 2. Walking out the door is often the toughest part of a run. 3. Don’t make running your life. Make it part of your life. 4. During group training runs, don’t let anyone run alone. 5. Keep promises, especially ones made to yourself. 6. When doing group runs, start on time no matter who’s missing. 7. The faster you...

70 degrees!
What great weather we’re having! Although it’s a little too warm for my taste, today’s weather was perfect for a pre-meet run. We did a 40 minute run and then 8 striders after the run. The middle school was having a meet at our track. One of the girls running the mile broke six according to my coach. She’ll be a great addition to the team next year. Work in a little then...

Weekly Grocery Trip
I love going food shopping with my mom! It is seriously the highlight of my week. I love being able to pick out all the fresh produce and get my food for the week. Today we went to Whole Foods aka my FAVORITE place!! Like every Sunday I went and got all the produce and my mom got the refrigerated stuff we needed. This week I got gala apples, strawberries, lots and lots of blueberries, more quinoa,...
