I had the time of my life this weekend. Prom was on Friday and I had a blast. My friend Sam went with me and we had a great time at both prom and post-prom. It’s weird how quickly everything went by. One minute I’m counting down until prom and the next it’s already over.
I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone. Now all that’s left is Senior Week festivities and graduation. Boy, has time flied.
Today’s workout was the perfect tuneup for before county’s on Saturday. Since I mostly race the 3200m my workout was different from that of the 800m and 1600m runners. The workout was 10x400m at pretty much race pace. It was a fast pace, but it was exactly what I needed.
I’m so excited for the county meet on Saturday. Fingers crossed that the weather doesn’t postpone it to next week.
You know it’s a good workout when there’s a sports bra outline on your back because of how much you sweat.
It’s weird thinking that today was my last, first meet ever as a high school runner. Time sure flew by quickly.
I figured since I made it Facebook official that I should also make it tumblr official. I am so excited for the next four years. So fricking excited!
Nothing beats getting burned by a heating pad to start your day.
I was only allowed to run a max of 4 miles, but it’s a start. It felt good to be running again. Only problem was I ran a tad bit faster than I should’ve. Oh well, what can I say I was eager haha
You’d think once one thing heals everything will be healthy for once, right? Wrong. My shins haven’t been bothering me at all within the past five weeks, but of course something else had to crop up and take their place. Now my IT band is giving me issues. Of all things, this certainly wasn’t what I need right now. Ugh
The girl I’ve been running with and I got talked to today about our pacing lately. Our coach doesn’t want us running as fast as we’ve been going for our normal distance runs. He said one or two faster runs per week are okay, but there is no reason why we should hammer each run. This was very welcome news seeing how we went sub-7:30 pace for our long run the other day. I’m all for a hard effort, but lately it’s been a little absurd. Considering my history with shins issues I would rather play it safe earlier in the season than risk any more injuries.
Our workout today wasn’t anything ridiculous, but it sure got the job done. My legs felt pretty good after the workout. Somewhat tired, but for the most part they were great. Here’s how our workout panned out:
- Warm-up: 15 minute run
-stretches, drills, striders, hip exercises
- Workout: 16x400m at 90 second pace
- Cool-down: 15 minute run
GUYS I GOT INTO GETTYSBURG!!!! I AM BEYOND HAPPY RIGHT NOW. AHHHH SO EXCITED!!!! :D
I still wanted to get my lifting in for the day and even though I wasn’t able to hit the gym, I still managed to incorporate some upper body while cleaning. I felt like it was time for a change so I rearranged the furniture in my bedroom. Moving everything around was the perfect substitute for my normal lifting routine.
Definitely one of my top ten favorite pictures from the senior trip. Love this girl! She’s like a sister to me and has been there through thick and thin. I don’t know what I’m going to do without her next year.
Post-practice cantaloupe. My run today was cold and lonely. We had to run one less mile than we have been this week and then do 200s on the track with a 200 recovery and then finish with another mile. Today’s mileage was 7.5 miles. My run was so lonely that I resulted to singing out loud.
